For this build, a 2006 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Street Bob was purchased off the showroom floor. With the bike being a brand-new model for that year. The owner was pretty happy that his sightings of other Street Bobs on the road were few and far between. However, the fresh look of the Street Bob began appealing to more and more people, and Street Bobs were becoming as commonplace as the name Bob.
To counteract the frustration of losing his bike amongst a pack of other Street Bobs, he came to Pete Nowaskey and his crew at Nowaskey Extreme Performance to discuss his options. The solution was a series of bolt-on performance parts and a new-school/old-school look. Pete suggested that one of the easiest ways to make the bike distinctive was to blackout some of the components. The first step was to remove many of the factory parts and tear down the drive train. The covers were sent out for textured black powder coating, and the rims were stripped to apply a gloss black powder coat.
In the meantime, Pete installed an American Suspension Springer frontend to the Dyna. “This was the most challenging part of the build,” Pete stated. “We had to custom machine a neck post to make it fit the frame, then get all of the front end components the proper length.”
The factory mini ape hanger handlebars were replaced with a much taller set of Gimp Hangers by Nash Motorcycle Company. A set of Pro One levers were used in combination with Magnum Shielding cables and Badlands turn signals. Some of the final additions included RSD’s Speed 5 Contrast Cut air cleaner, Vance & Hines Side Shots exhaust, Burly Slammer shocks, and an NYC Choppers Model A Ford-style tail light.
